We know that learning is easier when you have the support of everyone, because after all, it takes a village to teach a child. Anna Maria Elementary, or better known as the "little school by the bay", is passionate about the community and parent involvement and focuses on bringing this enthusiasm into the classrooms to obtain the best opportunity for the children of the school.
We sponsor a wide variety of extracurricular activities all ranging from Dolphin Dance, Dolphin Dash, Fall Festival, Dinners before Plays and more! We take pride in creating opportunities for the children to learn and thrive in social settings. Being apart of the PTO we enjoy creating events that cater to every student's interests as well as creating ample opportunities for donations and to raise money for the growing needs of the school!

I'm very excited to be elected for the position of PTO President. It will be my third year on the PTO board and returning in the position of President. I'm very familiar with AME and its staff, as I attended Anna Maria as an elementary student (Nicole Wagner), grew up on the island and am the parent of two AME students, Lily and Luke Plummer. I look forward to welcoming old and new families to Anna Maria Elementary School whether it be virtually or in person. The PTO has a great responsibility of assisting teachers and staff as well as provide learning experiences for our students that are as unique as our school. As President, I plan on continuing the communication between parents and teachers through our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/amepto) and our website. I want families to feel welcome to participate in all PTO events throughout the school year. "It takes an island!" There are many opportunities to get involved even if it is from a distance. Thank you for your continued support of our school!
Hello to all AME families both new and well-seasoned! My name is Alana Fleischer and I have been elected for a second term as PTO Vice President. This will be my third year officially on the PTO Board, and going onto my fifth year being actively part of all things AME. I am the wife of Officer Josh, the School’s Resource Officer, and mother to our daughter, Tegan, who will be heading to her fifth grade year. As I know that these past few years have been unique, I understand more than ever the importance of constant communication and active participation between parents, teachers, and the community. As your Vice President again, I will continue to seek to use my experience to help enhance and build upon the programs that exist all while adding new ideas and broader parent participation. I believe in our school and its desire to make the most of our children’s academic and social experience at AME as well as build memories that will last a lifetime.
My name is Kari Kennedy and I have been an AME Dolphin mom for 5 years. My son, Jackson, is in Mrs. Barreda’s 4th grade class. I served on the PTO Board last year as the secretary and previously as teacher liaison and I will continue to foster the positive momentum that the PTO has created for our school and our students. In our unique circumstance this year, I look forward to focusing on new and creative opportunities our students have beyond academics.
Hi, I’m Brook Morrison, mom of an Anna Maria Elementary fourth-grader who is grateful to be elected as AME-PTO co-treasurer with Jen Serra. My son Oliver and I moved to Anna Maria from London, England in January 2019. My career background includes children’ charity development and work in media. I’ve had ties to AMI since the 1982 MLB spring training season when my Dad was traded from the Chicago White Sox to the Pittsburgh Pirates. My parents fell in love with this area so much, they (now doting grandparents) still live in Manatee County.
AME has been a positive community and welcomed my son with open arms. The staff, teachers and students are second-to-none and it is my pleasure to serve the school in this capacity to help enrich the experience for AME students in 2021-22. Together with Nicole, Alana, Kari and Jen leading the way, we will have a fantastic year ahead for the lucky students who attend the little school by the bay.
As part of a new island family, I am excited to join the AME PTO board. My husband, Ryan and I have 2 boys at AME and our youngest boy will begin kindergarten in the fall. In my Ohio community I was an avid school and community volunteer and PTO board member. I am looking forward to contributing in ways that help teachers, staff, and students have an enriching and supportive year.
